Doc Shaul's Spring is located near Cobleskill in Schoharie County. It has a substantial year-round flow of cold water that supports trout. The Spring and its stream are of particular interest to the Five Rivers TU Club at SUNY Cobleskill. With the guidance of SUNY students and resources from TU National, riparian areas of the stream were heavily planted in April 2017 by SUNY students, members of the Clearwater and Dave Brandt TU Chapters, and DEC Region 4 fisheries staff. The Spring provides an opportunity for the chapter to work with college students who are trout anglers and conservationists. DEC classified the stream as trout spawning (C(T)s) as a result the awareness developed during the joint riparian planting project. The Chapter installed a temperature logger in 2019 and will be involved in future projects with the SUNY Cobleskill TU Club that will require chapter volunteers and funding.
